Boost Mobile Tuesday added the low-cost LG Tribute Empire to its line. It’s a new smartphone with low-end specifications and a low price of only $ 59.99. The retail price will actually be $ 99.99, but to celebrate its launch today, Boost Mobile is charging $ 40 of the regular price. In the world of smartphones, $ 59 does not bring you much, and this is the case with Tribute Empire. Its 5-inch IPS HD screen is 16: 9. Under the hood, LG has the MediaTek MT6750 processor, which is an octa-core 1.5 GHz chipset. This is associated with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. However, LG has included a micro SD card reader to expand storage. By 2019, you will need more than 16 GB of storage. LG has equipped the Tribute Empire with an eight-megapixel rear camera and a five-megapixel front camera. Do not expect these devices to replace your DSLR camera or compact cameras. Finally, LG has also equipped this smartphone with a battery with a capacity of 2500 mAh. Given the low resolution screen and the slower processor, this 2500 mAh battery should work quite well in Tribute Empire.
The design here is quite simple. However, this is to be expected for a smartphone under $ 100. It looks like a plastic smartphone, although nothing in the Sprint press release says what it’s made of. If it were metal, Sprint and Boost Mobile would boast about it. It has a smooth side, with only the camera and the flash in the center, as well as the fingerprint sensor. The power button is on the right and the volume changes to the left. There is also no additional button for the Google Assistant in Tribute Empire. It seems that LG has placed the Tribute Empire speaker in the back and, considering the price, it is not surprising. And for some, this could be a better option than leaving the phone, which can be stifled when playing games. The LG Tribute Empire definitely has an old-fashioned design. However, for $ 59.99, it’s not a bad smartphone. The big problem here is the obsolete software. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, which now has more than a year. Normally, it would not be a big problem. But there are two reasons why this is a problem here. First. LG is not great with the updates. Second, low-end and mid-range smartphones such as Tribute Empire are almost never updated. So, whatever the release, that’s what you’re stuck with until you make a new update.
